Winston-Salem will begin requiring masks in public places on Friday, June 26th, per Mayor Allen Joines.

“I am firmly convinced that wearing a mask can play a very significant role in reducing the risk of spreading the virus,” Joines said. “I am putting a mask mandate in place for the city of Winston-Salem to prevent us from going back to more stringent stay-at-home orders.”

The order will apply to indoor and outdoor spaces, including grocery stores, pharmacies, businesses, parking lots, sidewalks and public transit.

The order will be reassessed in the middle of August.
